Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

I live in the Colorado Springs and am in love with the beautiful nature that surrounds us. However, I do travel all around Colorado for my clients and would also be willing to travel to wherever you are or would like your session to take place.

Where do your sessions take place? Do you have a studio?

Typically sessions take place outdoors or in my clients’ homes. I am happy to provide location suggestions if need be. Studio sessions are ion Denver.

How should you describe you style of photography?

My style of photography can be described as Lifestyle, which falls between tradition and documentary photography. I love authentic images that are filled with emotion. My main goal is to capture those genuine moments between you and your family. My photos are lightly posed, meaning I’ll help get you into place first and then encourage interaction and real expressions while we’re snapping away.

Can we do a home session or can you recommend a location?

Absolutely!  I’ve worked in many clients’ homes. And don’t worry about the mess. If needed, I’ll help you move furniture/clutter around as we go.

What should we wear?

I give you lots of ideas and ways to prep for your session on my Session Info Page and in my Session Questionnaire that I send out once you’ve booked your session.

What if my kids don't cooperate?

I understand not every moment of the session is perfect, and that’s totally fine. In fact, in 10 years, I’m willing to bet that you’ll cherish the image of your toddler crying fake tears just as much as the one that we took 10 seconds later of him happily running toward the camera. My goal is to capture the personalities of the kids in front of my lens, including all of the beautiful quirks, details, and small moments that make up childhood.

What if I'm not photogenic?

I hear you. Everyone can be a little self conscious at times, especially in front of a camera, but when you’re having a great time with the ones you love, you’ll look more beautiful than you thought was possible. I promise!

What happens if it rains?

I keep a number of backup dates open each month in case of bad weather, and there is no fee to reschedule to a new date due to inclement weather. Colorado weather is notoriously unpredictable and can change very quickly, so I typically wait to call off a session until that morning (or the night before sunrise sessions).

Do you use flash?

Not usually, the only exception would be in your home or for a fresh 48. I do have a speed light to attach to my camera if need be, but even then I rarely bring it out. I aim to only use natural light. I really only need one window with good light to get the shots I need.

Can I keep the images from my session private?

All clients initial an optional model release that is included in the session agreement. If you would prefer to keep your images private, you may opt not to initial that section of the session agreement. For clients who choose to decline the model release, I absolutely respect your decision and will keep your images private.

How long will it take to receive my images?

Your fully edited gallery will be up for viewing within 4 weeks after your session (usually sooner). Delivery of prints and products purchased depends on when you put your order in and what was ordered. They are usually delivered within two weeks after purchased.

Do you provide black and white images?

Every image is originally photographed in color, but I also provide custom black & white conversions if requested. There are also times where I feel an image just looks or feels better in black and white and I will provide those in your gallery.

Where do you recommend printing my images?

I recommend ordering prints through your online gallery I send you. This way you will receive prints from an excellent online-based consumer lab that offers professional-quality prints and can guarantee color correct heirloom quality photos. I do not recommend printing your images at Shutterfly, Target, Walmart, CVS, or Costco. These labs are not designed to handle printing professional photography.

I'm ready to book, now what?

I can’t wait to work with you! Please fill out a form HERE and we can come up with a game plan for your session. After that, you will be able to sign your session agreement and submit your session deposit. 50% is due upon booking to reserve your date, and the remainder can be paid on or before the day of your session. I ask new clients to fill out a questionnaire, which helps me get to know you and what you would like for the session.
